Alden Shoes – Kudu Ultimate Indy

kindy1

With the continued popularity of our Alden Ultimate Indy Boots, we present to you our latest version, the Kudu Ultimate Indy. Horween’s kudu leather is essentially heavily oiled and hand treated calfskin, done in the same procedure as shell cordovan. Thicker and more dense than the norm, kudu is definitely a rugged and everlasting leather, perfect for our Ultimate Indy Boots.

Although you may think these are very similar to our standard Ultimate Indys, a closer look will reveal the oiled leather and a different shade of brown. Our Ultimate Indy Boots are made with Horween Brown Cromexcel leather, which has a slight mahogany tone versus these, which are a true dark brown.

    Good day Tom,
Once again thank you for saving a pair of these beauties for me. They will see some heavy use in the Winter rains of the Pacific Northwest.

    Best wishes,

I just received my pair in the mail the other day and they are awesome, the oiled kudu leather feels great combined with the TruBalance last and I can’t wait for these to age well with the contours of my feet through the NYC winter! Thank you for the excellent service!

Tom — How does the Trubalance compare with other lasts, such as the Aberdeen or Barrie? I

  8. Tom Said,

    September 17, 2009 @ 1:44 pm

    Mark,

Comparable to the Barrie in sizing, wider than the Aberdeen. It is quite a casual, bulky looking last.

    Aloha,

    Tom

Tom, I just received these in the mail today and my hat is off to you once again! I own 5 pair of your creations, all of them different. I must say these are my favorite! As always, outstanding customer service! Thank you!

Thanks Greg! Glad you like them. That’s saying a lot if you say these are your favorites!

    Tom -
First, I work in the shoe business on the complete opposite end of the price spectrum and marvel at your business model. Fantastic.

Second, I tried the standard Indy 405s and was a 10.5D (despite all my AEs on the double and single oak soles running 11D and my Brannock measure being 11.5 D). Will the Kudu Ultimate fit the same? Are you in stock in the 10.5Ds?

Third, shoe care. How would you take care of them? Will rotate wear, religious use of cedar shoe-trees, etc. so more looking for wax, polish, treatment recommendations. We get some weather here in KC.

    Vincent,

Thank you very much for the comment.

Yes, the Kudu UIs will fit the same as the standard #405s. Unfortunately we are already sold out of your size.

I’m very sorry I couldn’t accommodate you but hopefully we will have something for you in the future.

    Aloha,

    Tom

Beautiful shoes, do you have these available in a size 8.5 or 8?

    Thanks,

    Tom,
I LOVE the UI’s I bought earlier this year and I’m considering another pair. These look to be the ones. Do you still have 11.5 in stock?

I also am in need of some sole repair on my beloved pair. Will LSH perform repairs? or can you suggest a good place to send them to for some TLC?

    Thank you,
    J.

    Daniel,

Thank you for the comment. Sorry, we are sold out but we do have the Vintage Indy available now in 8D and 8.5D. Please let me know if you are interested in those.

    Aloha,

    Tom

    Jay,

Thank you for the comment. Sorry, we are sold out of 11.5Ds but do have the Vintage Indys in stock.

As far as repairs, we recommend sending the boots back to Alden for restoration if it is time. If you need a mail bag sent to you let me know!

    Aloha,

    Tom

Do you take orders for out of stock shoes? I am interested in purchasing the Kudu Indy in either a size 10.5 or 11.0. Normally I wear a size 11. D in Johnston Murphy. I have a fairly wide foot. What size do you think would work best.

    Thank you, Henry

  18. Tom Said,

    October 12, 2009 @ 8:51 am

    Henry,

We offer preorders to our preorder mailing list. You can join by simply sending an email to preorder@leathersoulhawaii.com. As far as sizing, we highly recommend getting sized in person if you are a first time Alden buyer. Alternatively, if you can get measured on a Brannock device, we could recommend (but not guarantee) a size for you.

If you have any questions please let me know.

    Aloha,

    Tom

I have a pair of All weather walkers in a size 11.5 C/E. They are about the right width across the ball of the foot but too wide in the heel and a too long for my foot. However I have a rigid orthotic I wear in them which I would’t be able to fit into my regularly sized shoes. I am thinking that the 10.5 D or 11 D in the Ultimate Indy would be the sizes to choose from as I do not want to wear any insert with them.
In measuring my foot, the scale says I am an 11 D or 10.5 E .

My foot length is 10.5 but most of my non- alden shoes that I wear daily are size 11.0 D’s to accomodate my wider foot.

Should I order the 10.5 or the 11.0 in this shoe?

    Henry

Any in stock in 9.5D or in the vintage indy’s?

  21. Tom Said,

    Kevin,

Sorry, we are sold out of both in 9.5D.

    Aloha,

  22. Tom Said,

    Henry,

Thank you for the comment. With your use of orthotics, I would definitely recommend trying on any shoe in person with your orthotics before commiting to a size. I know this may be difficult but sending shoes back and forth will end up being very costly.

Without orthotics I would recommend a 10E on the Trubalance last, but with orthotics the whole equation changes considerably.

If you let me know where you are located I would be happy to research an Alden dealer near you.

    Aloha,

    Tom

  23. Henry Said,

    October 19, 2009 @ 8:12 am

Thanks Tom, I would not be wearing the boots with an orthotic.
I live and work in Orange County, California.

    Thanks, Henry
